The Institute is managed by a Governing Council consisting of Industrialists, Engineers and Educationalists. The Principal is the CEO of the Institute.. He is the controlling authority and is responsible for maintenance of the standards of Education, interdepartmental co-ordination and conduct of examination in the Institute. He is assisted by the Vice-Principal in administration and by the Heads of the departments in academics. The tradition established is maintained till date.

Autonomous Status

Autonomy status from               -    1994

Government of Tamil Nadu has offered autonomous status to the institution from the year 1994-1995. It has its own Academic Board and Awards Committee to guide the Autonomous Board activities. The autonomy provides flexibility to the institution to frame its own syllabus in tune with the rapidly changing technology and conduct examinations and assess the performance of students contionusly.

Admission to the Polytechnic for all the Diploma Programmes is done strictly on the basis of marks scored in the S.S.L.C. examination and as per the communal reservation policy of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Admission to the second year of the Diploma programmes under lateral entry is done based on the HSC marks (Academic and Vocational)    & I.T.I (2 years) Marks and communal reservation policy.

Seats are reserved (within the sanctioned in-take) for the following categories of students for admission to the first year of the Diploma Programmes.

  1. Sons/daughters of Ex-servicemen
  2. Physically handicapped candidates
  3. Participants of State Level and National Level Sports Competitions for Sports Quota
  4. Children/Grand Children of Freedom Fighters.

They are selected and allotted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai.  Separate applications must be sent for this purpose to the Directorate of Technical Education.
